We give unique holiday gifts to relatives, friends and associates. A few years ago we planted a few acres of popcorn for holiday gifts. The hybrid seed for our popcorn was provided by a 40 year Nebraska corn breeder who touted popcorn grown from this seed as "superior taste and few hulls." The reaction to our popcorn gifts was exceptional, and it bore out the breeder's words. As a result, we continued to work with this unique popcorn including market research and independent testing.

In a taste test conducted by an independent Food Center our popcorn received the highest ratings from a sample group of customers on texture, flavor and overall acceptability. The same customers rated our popcorn lowest in hull presence. Other tests produced similar results.

Overwhelming positive reaction to the product, encouragement and favorable test results lead us to develop the brand "Heartland Gourmet," and go from hobby to business.

Heartland Gourmet Popcorn is produced in Central Nebraska. It is grown in near ideal conditions fostered by an abundant underground water supply for irrigation. As a result, this region produces over 20% of the world's popcorn. Although no longer produced on family property, Heartland Gourmet Popcorn is still grown in Nebraska from the same fine specialty hybrid seed that produces popcorn with a superior taste and virtually hull free.

Although generally unknown, we found popcorn is an exceptionally nutritious food. Medical evidence and research reports show popcorn's health benefits. It has zero saturated fat, cholesterol, salt or sugar and few calories, and it is rich in dietary fiber. Simply put: Popcorn is Nature's Near Perfect Snack Food.
